Ignited, Not Burned

August 20, 2023

Series: Exodus

The Lord calls us. After a life of murder, wandering, and perhaps doubt Moses is called. He sees the burning and not-burning bush and hears the voice of the Lord. God speaks to all of us in time, and a lesson we can learn from this is that in the life of faith two of the most important virtues are the ability to see and listen.

Scripture: Exodus 3:1-6

Extra Mile: The links between Exodus and the Gospels are numerous. Moses sees a burning bush, on fire and yet not consumed. The image of God appearing in a flame spans both the Old and New Testaments. In Acts 2 the Holy Spirit descends like a flame and lands on the tongues of the Disciples enabling them to preach to everyone who is gathered to hear. God literally wants to set us on fire - what do you think it means to be on fire for God? And it will not burn us up :)
