Rev. Andy Nixon

Campus Pastor

Where were you raised?

Plano, Texas. Go Wildcats! Growing up in an IBM family my parents, sister, and I did a lap of the country but Texas was home most often. Born in Tyler then raised in Plano. Dallas feels very much like home :)

Where did you go to school?

Since 8th grade I have been a Civil War buff and that led me to check out Washington and Lee University where I graduated with a B.A. in Political Science. I also spent my junior year at the London School of Economics.

Jesus intervened as I thought I was headed to law school and I ended up at Yale Divinity School where I got my Masters of Divinity Degree.

Currently, I am praying about pursuing a Doctorate. We’ll see what Jesus needs :)

Who’s in your family?

Deborah and I have been married for 30 years and we have two children, Anna and Noah.

Deborah is a principal of a KIPP Elementary School in Pleasant Grove, one of the oldest neighborhoods southeast of Dallas. Anna is 27 and a Nurse Practitioner in Houston, Texas. Noah is 23 and works in software development for a global IT company.

What brought you to Munger?

Jesus. In one of those episodes of life where God simply moves, He opened up a series of conversations and opportunities for me and my family that convinced us Munger is where the Lord needs us to be.

What’s your favorite thing about our church?

The vibe. People told me before I got here, but I only really felt it when I arrived. Jesus moves in this place. Mungarians put Jesus first. It is a faith you can feel.
