Every Happy Family
“All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.”
—Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina
There are a million ways to mess up family, but one way to get it right:
It turns out that every happy family is built on the same foundation.
The story of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Genesis 12-36) is the story of family—it’s about the Lord educating and shaping these men to be the founders of a people, about what it will take for the covenant to be successfully passed down, generation to generation.
God’s plan to save humanity, in other words, starts with a family.
It continues to this day: our primary responsibility is to build up and build for the next generation.
Or, to put it another way:
Family Is How We Fight.
