Merry Christmas! Every now and then someone does something that compels a response - a musician’s performance will cause a standing ovation or an athlete will make such a play as to make us cheer!

Christmas is that moment where God’s action brings about the greatest reaction from us. We can’t help it! Jesus is a gift so beautiful and perfect the world cannot help but praise! This Christmas, join the world in pride of the Lord because you have seen what the Lord has come!

The Bible frequently tells us two stories at the same time. On one hand, Luke 2 is telling us the story of the birth of Jesus. Just under the surface, however, a story of obedience is also being told. Mary “treasures” all of what is said about Jesus which many scholars take as an indication of the special role Jesus will play in salvation that ultimately leads to the Cross. Mary and Joseph also go to the Temple on the eighth day to present Jesus as Jewish tradition requires. All in all, a story of obedience is being told in the midst of the Good News!
